Edge Coffee vs Purity Coffee Both brands test their green coffee for mycotoxins and share lab reports. Purity offers more roasts and formats. Edge is one organic, Fair Trade, single-origin Peruvian coffee with its Eurofins reports published on its own lab-results page.
Verdict: Choose Purity if you want the widest range of roasts and formats from a large, long-running brand that tests every lot. Choose Edge if you want a single-origin Peruvian coffee from a small St. Paul company whose Eurofins reports you can open on our site, at about the same price per ounce.
Small differences that matter
- Read our lab reports. Open our redacted Eurofins reports yourself: Pure Health Coffee, March 2024 and decaf, April 2026. Ochratoxin A was below 1 ppb and total aflatoxins below 2 ppb in our sample Pure Health Coffee report.
- One origin, one farm region. Pure Health Coffee is single-origin Arabica, shade-grown in the highlands of Peru.
- Organic and Fair Trade Certified. Pure Health Coffee carries both certifications.
Purity Coffee and Edge Coffee Company both sell organic, specialty-grade Arabica coffee and test it for mold and mycotoxins. Purity was founded in 2016 by Andrew Salisbury and is based in Greenville, South Carolina (Purity SEC Form C-AR, as of Oct 17, 2026). It offers five core roasts plus espresso, decaf, single-serve and instant options (puritycoffee.com, as of Oct 17, 2026). It also puts real effort into measuring antioxidant compounds such as chlorogenic acids, which is a genuine point of difference (puritycoffee.com, as of Oct 17, 2026).
Edge Coffee Company was founded in 2020 by Mike Cullen in St. Paul, Minnesota. We make one thing: organic, single-origin Peruvian coffee, in a regular and a decaf, and every lot is third-party tested by Eurofins. Which one suits you depends on what you value. Here's the side-by-side.

Breakdown
Testing and transparency
Purity: says every lot of green coffee is tested at an ISO 17025-accredited lab for mycotoxins before it leaves the country of origin, and a lot isn't bought if it exceeds internal standards. Those standards are "at or below EU regulatory limits for ochratoxin A." Purity also re-tests on U.S. arrival when appropriate and spot-tests roasted coffee during the year (Purity help center, as of Oct 17, 2026). That's a thorough, three-stage program, and Purity deserves credit for it. Edge: every lot is third-party tested by Eurofins on the green, unroasted beans. We publish redacted sample reports so you can read the analyte names, results and reporting limits yourself: Pure Health Coffee green beans, March 2024 (PDF) and green decaf, April 2026 (PDF). They're examples, not every lot.
Lab limits (what "below the limit" means)
A result such as "< 1 ppb" means the lab didn't detect the toxin at or above its reporting limit. A lower limit is a more sensitive test. - Purity's October 2026 FLOW COA lists ochratoxin A and each of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 at "<RL" with a 1 ppb reporting limit (FLOW COA PDF, as of Oct 17, 2026). - Edge's March 2024 Pure Health Coffee report lists ochratoxin A < 1.00 ppb, each aflatoxin < 0.500 ppb, and total aflatoxins < 2.00 ppb. Our April 2026 decaf report used < 5 ppb limits for those toxins. - Bottom line: the ochratoxin A limits on the two brands' regular-coffee reports are the same (1 ppb). Neither published report shows a detection.
Sourcing and origin
Purity: sources from "trusted farming partners across Latin America" and roasts at three roasteries in the eastern US (SEC Form C-AR, as of Oct 17, 2026). It emphasizes regenerative farming (puritycoffee.com, as of Oct 17, 2026) and also sells single-origin lots such as Ethiopia Bette Buna (puritycoffee.com products, as of Oct 17, 2026). Edge: Pure Health Coffee is single-origin Arabica, shade-grown in the highlands of Peru. All Day Decaf is from the Cooperative Alto Mayo in Peru.
Roast and taste
Edge: Pure Health Coffee is one single-origin Arabica from the highlands of Peru, shade-grown and medium-roasted in small batches, with notes of chocolate, caramel and roasted nuts. All Day Decaf is a medium roast from the Cooperative Alto Mayo in Peru. Purity: publishes its own tasting notes for each roast (puritycoffee.com products, as of Oct 17, 2026): - FLOW (medium): roasted nuts, dark chocolate, juicy apple-like high notes - EASE (dark): dark chocolate, roasted walnut, brown spice - PROTECT (light-medium): toasted hazelnut, a hint of brown spice, sweet and juicy notes - CALM (decaf): dark chocolate, vanilla, sweet red apple-like mild acidity - BALANCE (⅔ decaf): vanilla, berry, roasted almond
Our take: if you want to choose by roast level, Purity gives you more options. If you like a classic chocolate-forward medium roast from one origin, we think Pure Health Coffee is the better cup, but taste is personal. On Amazon, reviewers often describe Pure Health Coffee as smooth and rich, and some call it "not bitter." Reviews are mixed: Pure Health Coffee Ground has 4.1★ from 73 ratings, and some reviewers found it weak or too expensive (Amazon, ASIN B0B3SHXYTC, Oct 12, 2026).
Why we think Edge is a high-quality choice
We think Pure Health Coffee is an exceptional coffee. These are the facts behind that opinion, and each one is easy to check: - One origin. It's single-origin, shade-grown Arabica from Peru, so it isn't a blend of different countries. - Certified. It's USDA Organic and Fair Trade Certified. - Tested before roasting, with the reports published. We test the green beans with Eurofins, and you can read the reports.
Purity also sells certified-organic, specialty-grade Arabica and tests every lot. Quality is a fair point of comparison, not a knockout. (We don't publish a roast date, so this page makes no freshness claim.)
Formats
Purity: sells whole bean, ground, single-serve pods and sachets, and instant, in 4 oz, 12 oz, 1 kg and 5 lb sizes (puritycoffee.com products, as of Oct 17, 2026). Edge: 12 oz Pure Health Coffee in ground (whole bean is currently unavailable) and 10 oz whole-bean decaf.
Price per ounce
At list price the two are almost the same: Edge $2.41/oz vs Purity FLOW $2.42/oz for 12 oz bags. Purity's 1 kg bag works out to about $2.13/oz (puritycoffee.com products, as of Oct 17, 2026).
Subscription
Purity: 20% off on deliveries every 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 weeks. That makes FLOW 12 oz $23.20, about $1.93/oz (FLOW product page, as of Oct 17, 2026). That's a strong subscription price. Edge: subscribe on our site for $26.06 per 12 oz bag (about $2.17/oz), or use Amazon Subscribe & Save.
Certifications
Purity: each product is labeled "USDA Organic Certified" (puritycoffee.com products, as of Oct 17, 2026). It's a Certified B Corporation (B Lab, as of Oct 17, 2026). We didn't find a Fair Trade certification listed on Purity's site. Edge: Pure Health Coffee is USDA Organic and Fair Trade Certified, and the Fair Trade logo is on every bag. All Day Decaf is USDA Organic.
Why Fair Trade matters to us: Fair Trade certification means growers are paid fair prices, and their communities get an extra premium to invest in things like schools, clean water and better farming. In our opinion, that care for the farmers shows up as higher-quality, better-tasting coffee you can taste in your cup.
Shipping and Amazon
Purity: free US shipping on orders over $65 (puritycoffee.com, as of Oct 17, 2026). It also sells on Amazon and through retail partners (SEC Form C-AR, as of Oct 17, 2026). Edge: Buy with Prime at checkout on edgecoffeecompany.com, and listed on Amazon (shipped by Amazon).
Giving back: microloans vs. B Corp
Purity: a Certified B Corporation since October 2024, with an overall B Impact score of 107.2. The median for ordinary businesses is 50.9 (B Lab directory, as of Oct 17, 2026). That's a meaningful, independently verified achievement. Edge: 10% of profits go to microfunding for small entrepreneurs to help build up their communities (Coffee for a Cause). Through Kiva.org, Edge Coffee has made 202 loans totaling $52,350 to small entrepreneurs in 42 countries, more than half of them women, from December 2017 to March 2025 (Edge Coffee Kiva loan records, Oct 2026). That includes 22 loans in Peru, among them Domitila, who runs a restaurant in Chala, Arequipa (Mission: Peru). In our opinion, putting money directly into a local business is a more direct impact than B Corp certification. B Corp measures a company's overall practices, while a microloan goes straight to one person's business. Both are worthwhile.
Small company vs. larger brand
Purity: founded in 2016 by Andrew Salisbury (founder and CEO), based in Greenville, SC. It reported about $34 million in 2025 revenue and 56,852 active subscribers, and it's a 2026 Inc. 5000 honoree (No. 1,573, 223% three-year growth). That's an impressive track record (Inc.; SEC Form C-AR, as of Oct 17, 2026). Edge: founded in 2020 by Mike Cullen in St. Paul, Minnesota. We're a small, founder-run company that started with help from Kickstarter backers (Founders), and we roast in small batches. Reach us by email at our contact page. In our opinion, buying from a small company means you can reach the person who chose the beans and signed off on the lab report. A larger brand brings scale, range and a long track record. Which matters more is up to you.
Who each is best for
Purity Coffee may be the better fit if you: - want several roast levels, a ⅔-decaf, single-serve pods or instant coffee - buy in bulk (1 kg or 5 lb bags) or want the lowest subscription price per ounce of the two - care about measured antioxidant content, which Purity tests for and publishes
Edge may be the better fit if you: - want one single-origin Peruvian coffee that's both organic and Fair Trade Certified - want to read named-lab (Eurofins) mycotoxin reports right on the brand's site - prefer buying from a small, founder-run company whose profits go to microfunding for small entrepreneurs, or want Buy with Prime checkout
Looking for a Purity Coffee alternative?
If you like Purity's testing-first approach and want a single-origin Peruvian option, Pure Health Coffee is tested the same way, on the green beans for ochratoxin A, aflatoxins and other mycotoxins, at a similar price per ounce. See our lab results · How we test for mold and mycotoxins
